This page documents the results of OTRA (An Ontology for the Transmission and Re-Use of Argumentative Patterns (OTRA) in Christian Muslim Religious Encounters). OTRA was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral project by Jacob Langeloh conducted at the University of Copenhagen between 2022–2024 and supervised by Jan Loop.
Objectives of the project
- Build an ontology that allows to describe references, re-use, and patterns in argumentation.
- Apply this scheme to a selection of texts from the tradition of Christian-Muslim religious encounter, generating a knowledge base.
- Use the knowledge base to answer research questions regarding the evolution of arguments and argumentative structures in Christian anti-Islamic polemics.
